2025 young adult mission trip

  • In February 2018, a category 4 storm hit the South Pacific, leaving much damage in its wake. To date, it is the strongest storm recorded to have hit the islands. Much aid was brought in immediately to help rebuild and restore. However, Cyclone Gita’s effect can still be seen in some parts of the islands.

    In October 2018, a small group gathered in Ha’apai to rebuild the Adventist church. Their goal was to later return to rebuild the Pastor’s home, which belongs to the church and is located on the church property. Along with this home, they would rebuild the Meeting Hall, both of which were damaged during the storm. Six years later, the team has not been able to complete this part of the mission.

    • We hope to pick up where the previous group left off by rebuilding the Pastor’s home and Meeting Hall.

    • We are also wanting to pour into the community by having our young medical professionals (YOU) share tips and lifestyle changes that will help combat diabetes, addressing one of the leading medical issues faced in Tonga today.

    Once the hall and seminars are completed, we will invite everyone in the surrounding community to a feast hosted at the newly built Meeting Hall. The dishes there will promote a healthier diet made from the foods found on the island.

    Lastly, we would like the end with a weekend of prayer, celebration and thanksgiving to the Lord. All materials used throughout the seminar will be left to the church for them to use to be able to reach out to other villages. We believe that our efforts will lead to many opportunities for the local church to be God’s hands and heart extended for a long time after we leave.
